Practice Makes Progress

Practice Makes Progress. I think this is an important idea because we are never going to be perfect in this life. However, who would want to be perfect? If you're perfect, you have nowhere else to go. Wouldn't that be boring? We can always get better. We can always progress. This is a good thing! Progression is very good! It's why we're here on this earth. We are here to learn, grow, and become better and more like our Father in Heaven and Saviour Jesus Christ. Surrender to the will and love of the Saviour, and he will help you progress and get you to where you need to go.

It's okay to cry sometimes. It's okay to feel weak. But when you do, turn to the Saviour. He will wrap you in his arms.

Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ see your divine potential. They see your beautiful spirit, and they want to help you return to them and become an exalted being.

We have been given commandments that help us to reach our divine potential. These commandments guide us and keep us safe; the commandments are enabling, not restricting. They help us fine JOY in our lives!

The Atonement is also a very important part of progression. When we make mistakes, the Atonement is there to help us become clean again. Not only does the Atonement help heal us from our sins, but it is also there when we are tempted or when we feel afflicted or in pain. Alma 7:11 in the Book of Mormon states, "And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people."

We are his people. He is there for us in our trials, sicknesses, and when we are tempted. He helps us to progress in all aspects of our life. Don't let the world get you down. There is hope. Keep the commandments and follow the guidance in the scriptures and from the living prophets. When we keep the commandments, we are practicing for the next life when we are gods and godesses. Don't fear when you falter. Renew your faith in Jesus Christ by remembering that he is there to catch you when you stumble and fall. He is there helping you progress on the path of life.

This post was based off of the LDS October 2015 General Conference talk "Strengthened by the Atonement of Jesus Christ" by Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
